Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim anticipated continued collaboration with France across the board to bring about bilateral growth and prosperity in remarks welcoming a delegation from members of the country’s National Assembly May 22.

Delegation leader Guillaume Kasbarian is joined by fellow members of the National Assembly Corentin Le Fur, Paul Midy and Estelle Youssouffa. Other prominent guests at their reception at the Presidential Office in Taipei City included Franck Paris, head of the French Office in Taipei, the PO said.

The vice president noted that in recent years the two countries have expanded cooperation on culture, economy and sports. She spoke specifically of Taiwan’s gratitude for the assistance and support that the country’s Olympic athletes were given during their stay in Paris last year.

Hsiao also thanked the French government for its emphasis on the importance of Taiwan’s engagement in international organizations, particularly its recent statement backing Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the World Health Organization, World Health Assembly and other bodies that facilitate global health care.

The vice president cited as additional examples the French government’s restatement of the significance of cross-strait peace at global events such as G7 summits and its ongoing dedication to freedom of navigation. She said Taiwan looked forward to further collaborate with France, especially on projects that advance technology and human welfare. (POC-E)
